Titanic (film) trivia: The
“promise” scene was filmed in early October 1996. One of those shooting
days in particular happened to be on Kate Winslet’s 21st birthday
(October 5th). She recalls laying on the raft with Leonardo, sort of
shivering together. All of a sudden, in-between takes, she whispers "Leo, it’s my birthday today" and he jokingly responds "That’s great sweetie. You know what? I don’t care."
